Moving to Datto SaaS Protection from Veeam, Acronis, or SkyKick
When moving to Datto SaaS Protection there are key functions that are similar to Veeam, Acronis, or SkyKick that you can easily set up to start using Datto SaaS Protection as soon as possible. Like Veeam, Acronis, or SkyKick, Datto SaaS Protection has the ability to backup and restore multiple organizations within one tenant, recover emails and whole accounts from specific points in time, and set customizable retention for each organization. See the topics below to set up these key functions in Datto SaaS Protection.
NOTE One key difference between Datto SaaS Protection and Veeam, Acronis, or SkyKick is the terminology that is used when referring to features within the products.
As in Veeam, Acronis, or SkyKick, Datto SaaS Protection allows partners to quickly add and manage multiple organizations within one tenant to easily backup and recover Microsoft or Google emails and accounts. When adding new organizations, the Organization Setup Wizard allows partners to establish the organization, licensing, and commitment before automatically redirecting to Microsoft or Google to finish authentication. Once you've authenticated to Microsoft or Google, Datto SaaS Protection can access your Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace data to run backups.

Similar to Veeam, Acronis, or SkyKick, Datto SaaS Protection allows users to easily restore or export data from a snapshot or even restore individual data items. When restoring, users can choose the date and a snapshot from that day to restore or export from. For details, see Restoring or exporting data.
Retention allows you to control how long snapshots remain in the Datto cloud. Similar to Veeam, Acronis, or SkyKick, Datto SaaS Protection allows you to set and apply different retention periods to each organization. Retention can be time based, up to one year, or infinite— to fit your organization's needs. For details, see Setting the commitment, retention period, and license cap number.
