2027 state tax changes overview

Effective January 1, 2027, changes to Colorado and California sales and use tax laws may affect your Kaseya invoices.

  • Colorado HB 26-1223: Software available for repeated sale or license, including downloaded and remotely accessed software, generally becomes subject to state sales and use tax. Exceptions remain for qualifying custom software and qualifying negotiated license agreements. Local tax treatment may vary.

  • California SB 122: Sales and use tax generally extends to electronically delivered or remotely accessed prewritten software, including Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), subject to applicable exclusions and exemptions. Qualifying custom software remains exempt.

Any applicable tax will appear separately on your invoice and does not represent an increase in Kaseya's underlying prices. The tax applied depends on the product, applicable customer location, exemptions, and state and local rules. Keep your billing and service-location information current.

If your purchase qualifies for a resale or other exemption, submit valid documentation through CERTifyTax before your next invoice is processed. Refer to Request tax exemption for US customers for details.

If your account information is accurate and no exemption applies, no action is required.

Exemptions are state-specific. If you have questions, chat with Kaseya Assist in KaseyaOne or email TaxHelp@Kaseya.com.
